Manchester United FA Cup final bucket hats are already available to purchase on eBay.

Travelling supporters were gifted commemorative headwear ahead of the first-ever all-Manchester Cup final with the United end covered in red bucket hats adorning a white and black band. The classy gesture was part of a club initiative to "create a red-and-white wall of support" and back the Red Devils towards a second Wembley triumph in 2023.

But with City vying to match United's 1999 treble success, Pep Guardiola's men started the match like the clappers and were a goal to the good inside 12 seconds, Ilkay Gundogan volleying home the fastest goal scored in an FA Cup final.

United supporters did have something to celebrate when Bruno Fernandes levelled from the spot, the Portuguese playmaker sent Stefan Ortega the wrong way when Jack Grealish was harshly penalised for handball, but Gundogan restored City's lead six minutes after the restart.

Suffering a 2-1 defeat under the arch, United supporters have showcased their outrage by flogging the free bucket hats on popular e-commerce website eBay and bids have reached over £65 - which works out more expensive than a category 4 ticket to the final. Not even waiting until they'd crossed the M25, furious fans listed their souvenir hats immediately after the full-time whistle.

It's the second time this season United have provided match-going supporters with free memorabilia at Wembley. Fans were handed red, black and white scarves prior to the League Cup final showdown against Newcastle United - with Erik ten Hag's men rewarding them with a first piece of silverware since lifting the Europa League in 2017.

While United's season may have ended on a sour note, City head to Istanbul knowing victory over Inter Milan will see them match their rival's crowning moment. Guardiola's side have already secured the Premier League title and the FA Cup. Next up, for three out of three, is the Champions League.
